Importing video
Obiklip works from the file where it already is. Importing does not copy your recording, move it, or change it in any way.
From a file
Any of these:
- Drop a video anywhere on the Obiklip window.
- Press Open video and pick a file.
Common video files are understood - MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM and others. What matters is that somebody is speaking in it; Obiklip has nothing to work with otherwise.
From a link
Paste a link into the bar at the top of the window and press the arrow. Obiklip fetches the video, saves it to a folder of your choosing, and that saved file becomes the project's source.
Choose the folder in Settings → Downloads. It matters later: move or delete that file and the project has nothing left to render from.
Only fetch what you have the right to use. A link that needs a sign-in, or that a site does not allow to be downloaded, will not come through.
The confirm screen
After the file is read you are shown what was found - length, dimensions, size - and asked one question: which language is spoken.
Around a hundred languages are listed, and Auto is there if you would rather not choose. Choose anyway when you know: detection can land on the wrong language, and the result is a transcript that has to be run again.
Nothing has been spent at this point. Closing the screen costs nothing.
Importing the same recording twice
A recording is recognised by its content, not by its name or where it sits. Import the same video again - renamed, moved, or a second copy in another folder - and Obiklip opens the project you already have instead of starting a new one. It is not analysed again, and nothing is charged again.
If the original moves
A project points at a file. If that file is renamed, moved to another disk or deleted, the project is still there but there is nothing to play or render. Point it at the file again and it picks up where it was - as long as it is the same recording; a different file will not be accepted in its place.
Removing a project
Deleting a project removes Obiklip's work - the transcript, the clips, the edits. Your video file is not touched. Deleting does not give minutes back, and importing that same recording afterwards starts a fresh project that has to be analysed again.
